August 24 - Davis Farmland

Today, Katie & I had a fun-filled day at Davis Farmland with our friends Rachel & Alison!!! For more info, see this post.

August 23 - Money

A tour guide was showing a tourist around Washington, D.C. The guide pointed out the place where George Washington supposedly threw a dollar across the Potomac River.

"That's impossible," said the tourist. "No one could throw a coin that far!"

"You have to remember," answered the guide. "A dollar went a lot farther in those days."

August 21 - UPS

Mike has worked for UPS for 15 years, so I thought it was important to capture that somehow. This is a toy truck that was given to Kaitlyn by a gentleman that Mike works with. But, our house is completely full of items with the UPS logo on it....Mail, Jackets, Coffee Mugs, Toys, Teddy Bears, even blankets...lol.

What can "Brown" do for you?

August 20 - More dishes?

This is the scene from my kitchen sink mostly every day. This has GOT to be one of the worst chores there is...better get to it...sigh...

August 19 - New Toy

Today, my new camera arrived...I know, I know...ANOTHER CAMERA? This one is more portable for quick trips to the park, beach or hiking mountains. My main purpose for buying this camera is so that I have a lighter camera to carry when I hike Mt. Washington. Besides, my other camera is just too big for everyday events :-)

Playing catch up

Man, am I behind on my photo of the day...I am going to do my best to get caught up this weekend...sheesh!

Today, our furniture was delivered!!!

Check it out here...We have Couches!!!

August 14 - The Famous Refrigerator

Our refrigerator is always quite busy.

On the top half, starting in the lower left corner, moving clockwise we have...a magazine clipping of our "dream home", a photo of my friend Lori and her daughter Lexi, a postcard from Martha's Vineyard that I picked up because the dog on it looks like one of mine, the grocery list, and in the middle, a postcard of Mt. Washington that a friend sent to me from NH, reminding me of my goal to climb Mt. Washington.

The bottom half is full or Kaitlyn's art and a few toys to keep her entertained in the kitchen.

So, why a picture of my refrigerator? It's a part of my daily life and I thought it would be neat to see how it changes over time.

August 13 - Luggage

I used to travel quite lightly...
...in college, all I had was a small billfold that held my license, money and credit cards.
...out in the workforce, I carried a small purse.
...as a mom, I carry this backpack FULL of stuff. Even though Katie is no longer in diapers, I still have a ton of stuff...disposable toilet seat covers for those yucky public potty's, Wet Ones antibacterial wipes, regular wipes, change of clothes in case of accident, a variety of snacks, water bottles, usually a camera...
...never mind what I have to carry for a day trip.

This dawned on me when we took our trip to Gloucester and we were taking a 5 minute walk from the car and I had the stroller, 2 bags (one was my caemra bag) and 2 water bottles hanging off the stroller and my dad looked at me like I was nuts. But, sure enough, before we returned to the car, Katie needed something out of one of the bags and a ride in the stroller. So, I guess I am not nuts, maybe a little over prepared sometimes, but not nuts :-)

Here is the bag I have used most often since Katie was born...

August 12 - Gloucester

Today, my dad, Katie & I went to Gloucester, MA. America's Oldest Seaport. For the full story, visit this post...GLOSTA!!!

August 11 - Work

Below is a picture of my cubicle at work...

This is where I spend my Tuesday's & most Thursday's. It's pretty simple and never cluttered. I admit that I need some decoration, maybe a photo frame or two, but it serves it's purpose :-)

August 10 - Dream Home?

I woke up this morning thinking about my house. I was thinking that I have lived in this house for about 25 years and owned it for 10 of those years. When I bought this house from my parents, I thought that it was just going to be a "starter home" as it certainly is not even close to my "dream home". I was thinking about how much work we have put into it and how much work we still want to do to it and I often wonder if it would be easier to sell this house and buy something more in line with what we want. But, then I get this image in my head of the day we leave this house behind...an empty home, me checking one last time to make sure that we have packed everything as I walk in and out of all the rooms that have held so many memories for me over the years. Then, I try to imagine myself putting the key on the counter, taking one last look and closing the door on my home. I always start to cry over the mere thought of it. In fact, I am crying now as I type this post. So, what makes a dream home? Is it the perfect siding? 2,000+ square feet? finished basement? etc. Or is it the memories and happiness that lives and grows inside the home? I guess for me it would have to be the memories because I can't ever imagine closing the door on my home and never coming back. Maybe this is my "dream home" because this is where all my dreams are coming true.

August 9 - Finishing Touches

Today, Mike put the finishing touches on the sunroom...WOO HOO!! Thank you for all your hard work, honey :-)

August 8 - Laundry - YUCK!

My laundry day is Fridays, but this weekend it carried over into Saturday which I was really not happy about because the weather was absolutely perfect and I spent my morning grocery shopping and my afternoon finishing laundry...YUCK!!!

August 7 - Come on, Kate!

Today, we went to the Northboro Splash Pad with Katie's cousins Sophie & Charlie, and her friends Alison, Honor, Mikey & Thorin. Katie & Sophie were so cute together...Sophie was the "brave one", running through every sprinkler she could find and Katie was the "cautious one", running the other way so she wouldn't get water in her eyes. This is Sophie saying, "Come on, Kate!" and Katie not wanting anything to do with where Sophie was headed...lol.

August 6 - Groupie

Tonight, we went to another Beatles For Sale concert, this one at NARA Park in Acton, MA. It was a great show on a great night at a great park...come on out and check these guys out, they ROCK!!! Here is a picture of their number one fan!!!

August 2 - Mike's Birthday

Today was my hubby's birthday...HAPPY BIRTHDAY HONEY!!!

August 1 - Sunroom Crop

Today, I had some of my good friends over to Christen the sunroom with a crop!!!

Amy, Eileen & Mary working hard on their memories...

When Kaitlyn refers to my "scrapbook" friends, it sounds like "crackup friends" because she can't say scrapbook. It's so cute becasue either way, it holds true...they are both my scrapbook friends and my crackup friends. Whenever we get together, there are always a lot of laughs.
